In nature, there is a symbiotic relationship between resources and the landscape. The natural harmony inspired me while growing up in rural Missouri. This relationship has a science and there was more to a successful crop than just random placement. It was working through these challenges when I realized the opportunities in spatial design, which led me to a career in Architecture and Design. In all the elements of design, it is about creating an interdependent relationship within environments which are both functional as well as exude personality, character and style.
In designing permanent spaces such as luxury suites, villas, restaurants, resort pool decks, ballrooms, and convention spaces, I employed the same techniques as event design. By understanding the dynamics of the architectural design, I began to see how the use of these spaces, particularly with special events, worked together to accent and support one another. Designing and selecting the right elements, having the attention to detail all helped create the emotional content of the surrounding making it feel comforting and familiar to a guest. With this experience and knowledge I am always looking for unique and unconventional ideas to incorporate in any atmosphere.
